In the game’s encyclopedia, once you unlock enough clues for that species, you will get a table detailing how long an animal is young/adult/mature, weight ranges for each age group, trophy scores for star ratings and more.

With the update that came with Tikamoon, in addition to the encyclopedia being updated for the 12 new species, there were updates to many of the species previously in game. Some species with decimals in the ages were removed, some species had the total life span changed (Whitetail went from max age of 8 years to 11 years), several had changes in where the transitions from young to adult & adult to mature occurred. I have no clue how this will impact animals on those maps as far as whether they follow the old age cycle or move to a spot on the new ones.

I have made a table for each map, since it makes sense that you might want to compare multiple animals while you are there but it makes it a bit easier to track down where transitions occur. A couple animals have things in the encyclopedia that don’t make sense. The bear starts at year 2, some have the same year in two age brackets, a couple birds and rocky mountain elk have decimals on some years. I also skipped showing years 29 thru 38 since only black bears live those years, and there is no change of age bracket. This version is from the game post Tikamoon update and also includes the info from the table in WoTH discord announcements by NRG CM Michal that shows a handful of animals that have different life time cycles for males and female. I also put a * on Red Deer and Warthog. I have personally seen that Red Deer have 6 years as a mature but not confirmed how many young and adult years. I have also seen that Warthog have 10 years as an adult and only 4 years as a mature. In both cases, I have left the table as NRG put in the encyclopedia.

Some careful observations have brought to light a number of discrepancies with information in the game’s encyclopedia regarding animal’s info. This includes how long some animals are at certain ages as well as when they reach certain star ratings. The table below details ones that I have confirmed, when I noticed and if they have been fixed.

You can see that the animal’s weights are sort of clustered, instead of ranging from the lowest to the highest. It is probably clearer to look at a smaller group, so below is caribou that had a fitness from 40 to 49.9 % fitness. Even though caribou have a range of 70 to 110 while young, a 40 something fitness caribou appears to start with a weight of about 80 kg and over the years as a young caribou, grows to about 85kg, and during those years his trophy score will start around 200 and reach about 220. Higher fitness young caribou will have a slightly higher range for both weights and trophy, lower fitness will have both slightly lower. Once that 40 something caribou turns adult, their weight will jump to about 116kg and grow to about 121kg during their adult years, with trophy scores growing from 220 to about 265 during their adult years. As a mature their weight jumps up to about 145kg and will grow as a mature to about 152kg. Their trophy score will grow from about 265 to around 320 or 330 by the end of life.

Since this seems to track across several species, I think that an animal’s weight grows in a bracket range based on age group (young, adult, mature) and trophy score seems to progress steadily over time as the animal matures. Now that I have collected better info on some animals, here is how specific animal grew from year 1 to his last year, showing how weight and trophy score increased compared to the encyclopedia ranges. The weight did progress in tiers steps based on age. The trophy score increased the same amount each year.
