Difficulty Settings

I change my game’s difficulty based on how I feel and what I am trying to do. WoTH allows you to do this from the main menu as much as you want. As I have experienced, I do not think that the game mechanics change based on difficulty, just how far away an animal can hear you, or how long you have to pause before making more noise when animal senses are set higher. So if you do play with high animal senses, expect to take the game at a much slower pace. It can be fun to play a more realistic style hunt, but at the same time, if you are trying to do full blown herd management of an entire habitat, I am not sure that you can get ahead of the respawns enough to drive the population curve in the direction that you want to in a reasonable amount of time. It can still be done, but the extra respawn cycles due to you not covering as much ground or animals, will compound the amount of time it takes.

One difference between the different difficulty settings is the range for photo mode. Since I have had the perk unlocked for a while, I am not sure of the range if you have not unlocked the perk. The math for perks is not straight forward. In the case of trophy lodge taxi numbers the perk says 30% increase to max number. Mine went from 75 animals to 150 animals, considerably more than the perk described.

For the new hiker setting, the perked camera range is 150 meters. For ranger setting, the perked camera range is 10 meters. For all other settings, the perked camera range is 100 meters.
