Red Deer
Matariki Park
The most widespread deer species in Matariki park, with its biggest specimen being noticeably smaller than its European counterparts. Its antlers are still large and extremely valuable trophies. Because of huge population spikes, frequent culling requests are issued, with hunters going as far as using helicopters in the past.
